Tina Romero, the daughter of horror legend George Romero, is working on a horror comedy called Queens of the Dead. The film, which Deadline describes as taking the conceit of George Romero’s iconic zombie films and giving them “a fresh, contemporary, and queer twist” has already lined up an impressive cast, including Katy O’Brian (pictured above in The Mandalorian), Margaret Cho (Fire Island), Brigette Lundy-Paine (I Saw The TV Glow), and Cheyenne Jackson (American Horror Story).
“This is the cast of my wildest dreams,” Romero said in a statement to Deadline. “In a movie about survival, you gotta love and root for the survival crew. Every single person in this ensemble brings such a special and specific flavor—both on and off screen. The result is truly a magic sauce.”
Here’s the synopsis of the film, which comes from a script written by Romero and Erin Judge:
Additional cast members for the film include Nina West (Rupaul’s Drag Race), Jaquel Spivey (Mean Girls), Tomas Matos (Fire Island), Quincy Dunn-Baker (No Hard Feelings), Becca Blackwell (Bros), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black Panther), Dominique Jackson (Pose), Riki Lindhome (Knives Out), and Eve Lindley (Bros).
